Where our cats come from
At D’Arcy’s A.R.C. you’ll find cats of every description within our shelter.  We receive our cats from several main sources:
  • The Winnipeg Humane Society provides cats who have run out of time in the adoption centre, do not fit certain health criteria for their adoption program or who cannot be housed due to lack of space
  • Citizens turn in stray or abandoned cats roaming at large
  • Veterinary clinics turn over abandoned cats and unwanted litters that they receive

We take the business of animal rescue seriously.  We want the dogs and cats that we’ve cared for and protected to end up in happy, for life homes.

Becoming Acquainted

If one of our cats appeals to you, talk to one of the shelter staff.  We will tell you everything we know about the cat and can discuss how it will likely fit into your home.
