June 15 - Rolling Hills

Active Image- Monday, June 15th, 2009 -

Today's Trip:  146km
Total Trip:  1486km

Left Medicine Hat at 7:50AM and made it to the Alberta-Saskatchewan border by 11:30AM.  We stopped for a moment at Walsh, AB, then took some pics at the border.  There was lots of roadkill this time: gophers, raccoons, badgers, deer.  Traffic was steady with a paved shoulder most of the way.

Active ImageStopped in Maple Creek Visitor Centre, and met Suzi who is from Kent England.  She is biking from Vancouver to the East Coast.  I don't think she knows why she's doing the trip, but she is doing pretty good all on her own.  We loaded her paniers in the car to lighten her load, and she rode with us to Tompkins, SK and we are camping for $10 per night.  Tompkins' population is a whopping 176!  No suprise, there is no internet.  I will post this, hopefully, tomorrow along with tomorrow's blog entry.

Had supper at an ESSO cafe, and headed back to the camp site.  Dan built a fire with no trouble, and I cannot keep my eyes open for much longer.  We'll try to get away earlier tomorrow to escape the heat of the afternoon.

Good night.
