| June 21 - O' The Bloody Winds, Again! |
- Sunday, June 21st, 2009 -Today's Trip: 137km Total Trip: 2097km Hurray! We have officially broken the 2000km mark! To boot, we are finally in Manitoba! The wind was incredible today. Today was quite possibly the longest day on my bicycle; I was pedaling into the wind all day and could not go any faster than 15km/hr! Every corner I turn I was throttled with the force of wind! I am absolutely exhausted and my legs are aching as if I was climbing the mountains again. I left Broadview SK at 6:30AM, and I thought that I would get to Moosomin, SK before Dan and Jenn caught up to me, but the wind prevented me from gaining any time. I managed to make it to Wapella, SK before they caught up to me 3.5 hours later. At this time I have pedalled 50km which is difficult to hear because Jenn says in the morning I would usually have pedalled that distance in 2 hours. I felt myself stopping every 15km to rest and drink water. We stopped and had lunch in Moosomin, SK. Outside of Moosomin someone pulled us over and donated! Right after that we saw a few horses, and a herd of reindeer. It was quite amazing.![]() ![]() As we arrived to the Manitoba border Jenn decided she wanted to see how strong the winds were for herself. They were very strong. Dan and Jenn took turns riding the other bike into Virden. After 12 hours on the road I finally arrived in Virden at 6:30 PM. We then met up with Heather Reimer; mother of Baboo. Baboo is a kitten she nursed from a week old who is actually very very active! As we entered Heather's home she tried to get me to have an ice cold beer but I opted for the ice cold diet coke and the wonderful dinner Heather had for us. Karen from the Mutt Hutt baked us a delicious homemade cherry pie and dropped it off as we arrived. Later in the evening we went for a walk with her two dogs, Honey Bear and Lumpy. Tomorrow morning we are to be at True Value Hardware at 10am for a meet and greet with the public. Then we will be out of Virden by noon to get to Brandon, MB! I am very tired and always seem to be thirsty. I’m going to bed. I’m so so tired. I am too tired to censor the pictures Dan puts up so I hope he picks the good ones tonight.Good night. -D'Arcy ![]() ![]() |
