- Monday, June 22nd, 2009 -Today's Trip: 77.5km Total Trip: 2174.5km This morning I Was able to sleep in until 8AM! I made my way downstairs and had breakfast with Heather from Virden Pet network (based out of Virden, MB). She got up earlier and had prepared pancakes and sausages for us. After the home cooked meal we made our way to True Value Hardware. It's in downtown Virden, MB where we met a greeted local Virden residents. We recieved a few donations and then had an interview with the local Channel 12 TV Station by a man named Lindsay. ![]() A couple of hours later we managed to leave Virden at noon. This was a little later than I had hoped and I was a bit nervous because I have never left a location this late before. Luckily We had a slight southern tailwind! Dan rode his bike with me out of Virden, and continued to ride for 40km. It's not a race but he disappeared into the horizon, once again. Jenn had to catch up to him to let him know I needed a rest at the next town. We had a rest at Alexander, MB where the local diner was closed. I had a 7-up from the vending machine behind the diner. Now Jenn was riding her bike, and she rode for 20 km. We rode into Brandon and checked into the Canad Inns Hotel at 3:10PM. Our room was donated, which is fantastic; thank you, Kari! ![]() Since we haven't had lunch we're planning on heading out for some shortly. Afterwards, I plan to go see my mother at a nearby Hospital where she is recovering from her hip surgery. Tomorrow, we are destined for Portage la Prairie, MB where my family will be meeting up with me. I'm excited to see them. I think that's all for today. There isn't much to report, as it was only a 3 hours trip for us! We're all happy to be here so quickly! -D'Arcy PS. Pictures coming soon. Only 2 more days left! I can't wait! ![]() |
