Today, D’Arcy’s A.R.C. (Animal Rescue Centre) was notified that it did not receive funding from the Aviva Community fund.

D’Arcy Johnston, President of D’Arcy’s A.R.C, indicated that he appreciates the community support that the shelter received during the voting process, allowing the shelter to move into the position of finalist.  `As usual, Manitobans demonstrated their generosity in supporting this important cause`.

Despite the loss, the local animal shelter remains committed to its goal of rescuing abandoned and strayed animals.

If individuals or organizations are interested in donating to the shelter, they can either call the shelter at 888-2266 or go the shelter’s website at www.darcysarc.ca.  D’Arcy’s A.R.C. is a registered charity and is able to provide a tax receipt for any contribution-in-kind valued over $10.   The shelter does not receive government funding.

D’Arcy’s A.R.C., a Winnipeg-based shelter, has been open since November, 2001.

The shelter is dedicated to rescuing cats and dogs from situations of abandonment, homelessness, neglect and abuse.  D’Arcy’s A.R.C. is a non-profit, registered charity.  The animals at the shelter are given the veterinary care they need and a safe, caring and comfortable place to live until they are adopted for life.
